Crime Continues to Decline in Gwinnett Village

2012 marks the fifth consecutive year that the Norcross community improvement district, which includes a portion Peachtree Corners, has seen a drop in targeted and overall crime.

Statistics show that the Gwinnett Village Community Improvement District has seen a drop in targeted and overall crime for 2012. This is the fifth consecutive year for decreased crime in Gwinnett Village, which is the largest CID in the state of Georgia and covers parts of Norcross and Peachtree Corners along Jimmy Carter Boulevard, Beaver Ruin Road, Indian Trail Road and the I-85 corridor. The annual statistics, which were provided by Gwinnett County Police, show declines in 2012 in total robbery, commercial burglary and motor vehicle thefts by 6 percent, 35 percent and 6 percent respectively, according to a news release. Son Suspected of Murdering His Mother was Arrested

Gwinnett Police confirm Mark Wilson was taken into custody Wednesday evening.

The man wanted in connection to the stabbing death of his disabled and elderly mother has been arrested. Gwinnett County Police Department's Cpl. Jake Smith confirmed that Mark Wilson, 42, was arrested Wednesday at about 6:40pm. Officers found a champagne colored 2006 Toyota Camry reported missing from the home of Phyllis Wilson, 72, at a QuickTrip at the intersection of Grayson Highway (S.R. 20) and Simonton Road. This was less than two miles away from the crime scene. Wilson was taken into custody without incident.  Mrs. Wilson was found dead in her home at 1139 Simonton Glen Way Tuesday morning by her husband and caretaker. She was partially paralyzed. The Medical Examiners Office determined she had been stabbed. The Camry was missing …

Video: Suspects Sought in Cell Phone Store Robberies

Gwinnett police are looking for the public's help in capturing and identifying those responsible for a series of armed robberies at cell phone stores in Norcross and Snellville.

A suspect or suspects recently have been busy robbing cell phone stores in Gwinnett and police want the public's help to nab the culprits.  There have been at least seven robberies, including six pegged to unincorporated Norcross and one in unincorporated Snellville, according to a press statement from the Gwinnett County Police Department. Police said the robberies occurred between May 26 and July 24 of this year.  In each incident, police say one or two black male suspects robbed the stores at gunpoint. At least one of the suspects captured on surveillance video in each case appears to be the same person, said Cpl. Jake Smith, in a press release.
