Following is the Gwinnett Department of Transportation's list of roads under construction for the week ending Feb. 1, 2013. · Alcovy Road from Campbell Road to West Drowning Creek Road will require intermittent lane closure through March for roadway improvements associated with Sugarloaf Parkway extension, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm. · Camp Branch Road from Kilgore Road to Wallace Road will close on January 28 for approximately two months for culvert improvements. The detour route will be Camp Branch Road to Hamilton Mill Road to Wallace Road to Camp Branch Road and the reverse. For further information contact the Department of Water Resources at 678.376.7069…

Before you head off to work on Monday take a look at Gwinnett County's weekly list of roads includes that are under repair for the coming week. A reminder for Peachtree Corners commuters, North Berkeley Lake Road is on the list. The road is closed to all thru traffic and will remain closed until February 2013 while the dam is repaired. The roads are listed in alphabetical order.

Brian Allen, who has led the Gwinnett County Department of Transportation since 1996, announced his retirement as director. “Brian’s many years of experience have been a tremendous asset to this community, and I believe Gwinnett County is a better place because of him,” said County Administrator Glenn Stephens in Allen’s retirement announcement. Stephens asked Kim Conroy to serve as acting transportation director. Conroy, a 26-year veteran of Gwinnett DOT, has served as deputy director and chief engineer since 2007. Allen’s retirement was effective last Friday (Sept. 30).
