There are two Gwinnett County parks located within the city limits of Peachtree Corners, Jones Bridge Park and Holcomb Bridge Park. Public input meetings scheduled during the month of October for 2013 capital improvement plan. Peachtree Corners has three county parks located within its city limits.
The Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a series of public input meetings during the month of October. Members of the Gwinnett community are encouraged to attend one or more of these meetings where they will have a chance to provide input for the 2013 Capital Improvement Plan Update. The 2013 Capital Improvement Plan Update is set to build on the Parks and Recreation Capital Improvement Plan from 2007. It's an opportunity for residents with concerns or interests in the provision and maintenance of new park facilities in Gwinnett to voice their interests. Editor's note: Although this incident did not happen in Peachtree Corners, we thought it an important reminder for parents living in any community. The Grayson Athletic Association advised parent by email Tuesday of a series of attempted abductions that took place Monday night at Bay Creek Park in Loganville. According to the email, an arrest has been made. Patch has contacted the police for confirmation and details of the arrest and will update when more details are available. With a theme of “Healthy Counties, Healthy Families,” Gwinnett County is celebrating National County Government Month in April and highlighting the health services and programs it provides. There will be many free and fun events throughout the month including a Get Out and Play Day at county parks Saturday, April 7. For a list of Gwinnett parks, their hours and amenities click here. Most of the special events, seminars and workshops, which are being coordinated by county departments, are designed to help residents learn about healthy living choices. For over 20 years Danny Cochran was a fixture at the baseball fields of the Gwinnett Park. The long-time volunteer was recognized posthumously on Saturday, March 10.

Danny Cochran had two loves in his life - his family and baseball. And the two were intimately intertwined. For over 20 years Cochran was a fixture at the Pinckneyville Parks baseball fields, first as a father and baseball coach for his two sons, Jeremy and Joey, then later just because baseball was a part of who he was. He served in numerous volunteer capacities, including baseball commissioner, head of maintenance and as an umpire. He was a mainstay at the park said Bert Nasuti, former Gwinnett County District 2 Commissioner, who also worked along side of Cochran as a baseball coach. Officials discuss progress of sales tax funded projects.
County officials met in Hoschton recently to discuss how Gwinnett County special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST) dollars are being spent. Rhonda Etheridge, deputy director of financial services for Gwinnett County, presented an overview of what SPLOST is meant to accomplish and what the county has done with the money. Etheridge noted part of the money has funded multiple Gwinnett County fire stations. SPLOST proceeds have also funded numerous projects at county recreational facilites. Rhodes Jordan Park in Lawrenceville is undergoing renovations, as is Ivy Creek Greenway in Buford. Etheridge said SPLOST funds were also used to alleviate congestion on Collins Hill Road that resulted from the construction of Georgia Gwinnett College…
