How Gwinnett County Voted in the 2012 Election

Republican-heavy Gwinnett County came out in large numbers

Results Updated 2 a.m., Wednesday  Gwinnett County voters provided few surprises on Election Day. They came out in large numbers, voted mostly Republican and provided several lopsided outcomes. Nearly 75 percent of the county's registered voters casted their ballots, more than five percentage points better than the 2008 turnout. Gwinnettians voted for Gov. Mitt Romney for president, for incumbents in 11 races, including three Board of Education candidates, and in favor of the controversial Public Charter School Amendment (by a 63% to 37% margin), which drew similar margins elsewhere in the state. U.S. Representatives Rob Woodall (R, District 7) and Hank Johnson (D, District 4) had sizable leads among their Gwinnett constituents as they …

Beaudreau Edged Out by Hunter in Runoff

Hunter gets the nod from voters for District 3 commission seat while Scrader and Brantley win their respective judicial races.

Gwinnett County voters went to the polls Tuesday to settle three races -- the Republican primary for the Gwinnett County District 3 Commission seat and two nonpartisan Gwinnett County judgeships. Unofficial results in the race for the District 3 commission seat show Tommy Hunter edging out Mike Beaudreau by a margin of 50.31 to 49.69 percent -- a lead of 56 votes.  Beaudreau, who was seeking a third term, fell just short of the majority vote needed to win outright during the July 31 primary and was forced into a runoff with Hunter. Dacula resident Mike Korom and former Snellville mayor Jerry Oberholtzer also ran. Georgia law allows candidates to request a recount when the margin of victory is less than 1 percent. If the runoff results hold…

Voters Get Chance to Meet Gwinnett Judicial Candidates

Nine of the 12 candidates running for three open seats were on hand Monday night for a meet and greet sponsored by UPCCA.

Next Tuesday Gwinnett voters will decide not only on whether to approve the TSPLOST referendum, they will decide on three judicial candidates among the 12 who are running for one of the vacated judicial seats.  A number of voters took advantage of the opportunity Monday night to meet and speak with the men and women vying for one of the seats. Brenda Campbell, who lives in Peachtree Corners River Station was among the 80 or so who came to get the know the candidates before she casts her vote next Tuesday. "The opportunity to meet and talk one on one is great," said Campbell who liked the idea of a central location so she could collect literature on the candidates and meet them first hand before casting her vote. The three candidates who …

Hi Andi, Did you go to the back of the church? The polling spot was a little hidden, I've heard from many people. Either way, that is a shame.   more ›
