Body of 24-Year-Old Man Found on I-85 in Gwinnett

Police are investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian on the interstate between Pleasantdale Road and Jimmy Carter Boulevard.

A road work crew made a gruesome discovery last week while cleaning the road side of the northbound lanes on I-85 - a dead body. Now police are investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian on Interstate 85 between Pleasantdale Road and Jimmy Carter Boulevard that may have occured earlier this month. On Friday, Jan. 11, shortly after 10 p.m. Gwinnett County Police received calls regarding a male walking northbound on I-85 along the center concrete median and walking into traffic in between Pleasendale Road and Jimmy Carter Boulevard. Another caller stated that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in that area. News Nearby: Duluth Man Shot to Death After Pulling Into Wrong Driveway

Homeowner Phillip Sailors of Lilburn is currently being held without bond in the shooting death. Sailors thought someone was trying to enter his home unannounced, according to Lilburn PD report.

Lilburn Police detectives continue to investigate a Saturday shooting on Hillcrest Road that resulted in the city's first homicide since 2005. In the incident, 22-year-old Rodrigo Diaz, of Duluth, was shot as he drove away from a residence located at 537 Hillcrest Road in Lilburn. Diaz was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.  He had been shot in the left side of his head with a .22-caliber revolver, according to police. He was pronounced dead at 6:10 a.m. on Jan. 27, while in the intensive care unit. Homeowner Phillip Sailors, 69, was arrested Sunday and charged in Diaz's death. Woman Killed in Possible Gang Shooting in Norcross Area

An incident that began at the Liquid Ultra Lounge in Peachtree Corners escalated to a shooting near Phil Niekro Parkway early Sunday.

A woman was shot and killed in unincorporated Norcross early Sunday in what police believe was an incident related to criminal street gang activity. The woman, identified as 21-year-old Malia Arianne Ross-Robinson, was shot at 4161 Phil Niekro Parkway off Beaver Ruin Road around 4:15 a.m. Dec. 9. She was transported to a local hospital where she died from her injuries, according to a news release from Gwinnett County Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith. "At this time, it appears that only Ross was struck," the release says. Detectives believe that Ross-Robinson was a part of a group that was involved in an altercation with a second group at Liquid Ultra Lounge, a nightclub off Holcomb Bridge Road in Peachtree Corners. Suwanee Police are investigating a fatal shooting from last week in which a man said he "accidentally shot his wife in the head" in their Riverview Run Lane home. According to police records, a man identified as Steven Thomas told police dispatch about the incident; officers responded on Oct. 10 about 3 a.m. The deceased woman is identified as Charissa Thomas; officers found her lying face up at the top of the staircase, with a gun positioned between her legs and a cell phone next to her body. There was a "large amount of blood" on her head, face and body, the incident report said. Gwinnett Police Investigating Homicide of Elderly Woman

An 72-year-old woman was found dead in a home on Simonton Glen Way in unincorporated Lawrenceville according to police.

Gwinnett County Police say an elderly female was found dead at a home on Simonton Glen Way in unincorporated Lawrenceville. They are calling it an apparent homicide. GCPD Cpl. Edwin Ritter said the woman was a 72 year old black female found at 1139 Simonton Glen Way. Ritter said the woman was partially paralyzed. She lived at home with her husband and son. Police are looking for a champagne colored 2006 Toyota Camry, with a Georgia license plate ACE-4826. Ritter says this vehicle belongs to the victim's family. Norcross Man Apparently a Homicide Victim

The body of Timothy Lance Kemp, 46, was found in a grassy area behind an apartment building.

A man’s body was found this morning behind a Harbin Springs Apartments building. Police found the man dead from a gunshot wound to the head in what they believe was a homicide.  The victim has now been identified as 46-year-old Timothy Lance Kemp, a resident of the apartments.  Gwinnett County Police received a call at 8:18 a.m. after a maintenance worker found the body while doing his morning rounds, according to Cpl. Edwin Ritter. A black male in his 40s was located in a grassy area behind the 100 building of the complex, which is at Twin Springs Trail and Harbins Road in an unincorporated area of Norcross.  “We don’t know what the motive is,” said Ritter.  “This is very preliminary information.” Police do not suspect that the body has …

Vigil in Memory of Missing Mom Planned

Nique Leili's body was found almost a week ago.

Family and friends of Nique Leili will remember the Lawrenceville mother at a candlelight vigil tonight near where her body was found.  According to Tweets from Leili's sister, Amy Elk, the vigil will take place Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at the entrance of the Oak Village subdivision where Leili lived. Leili's body was found in that same subdivision nearly a week ago.  Leili's funeral will be held at Athens First United Methodist Church Saturday at 11am. Elk is asking for donations to be made in Leili's name to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Police Name Husband as a Suspect in Death of Missing Lawrenceville Mother

GCPD identified a body found over the weekend as that of Dominique “Nique” Leili.

Gwinnett County Police say the body found Saturday in Lawrenceville is that of a mother who was reported missing and that her husband is a suspect in her homicide. On July 16th, friends and family of Dominique “Nique” Leili searched for the 44-year-old mother of three in the woods behind her home in unincorporated Lawrenceville. They found a body meeting the physical description of the woman, however due to the condition of the body, the victim could not be immediately identified. Investigators used dental records to identify Nique today. Nique was first reported missing by her husband, Matthew Leili, on July 11, 2011. He said his wife had not been seen or heard from since the 9th. Police say there were no signs of foul play. Detectives …
