What is Open, What is Not on MLK Day

Governments, schools and banks close on Monday, Jan. 21, to honor Martin Luther King holiday, but for many retailers it's business as usual.

Monday is a national holiday to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929-1968). A number of businesses will be closed in Peachtree Corners in observance of the holiday including: What's open: Nearly every retailer and restaurant in Peachtree Corners and beyond. Then Tuesday, it's business as usual. Happy Holidays to everyone who has the day off.

Yes, Gwinnett Schools Are in Session Friday

The state's largest school system will hold classes today.

It is business as usual for Gwinnett County schools on Friday (January 18). As of 6:20 a.m., the state's largest school system had served no notice that it would close or delay classes because of the possibility of roadway icing. System policy is to wait as late as 6 a.m. the day of classes before deciding whether to cancel. That's a short window for some students, as high schoolers in Peachtree Corners who attend Norcross High start classes at 7:10 a.m. According to the National Weather Service, the worst is over.
