After initially telling a Gwinnett Police officer early Tuesday that he had nothing to drink, Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner said he had "approximately 5 shots" at a bar in Atlanta before his DUI arrest, according to the arrest report. The arrest report, which was released Wednesday, quoted Turner as saying that he had consumed the alcohol at Magic City in Atlanta about 3 a.m. "after getting there late." Asked by the arresting officer if the shots were normal size, Turner said the shots were "in cups, not glasses." According to yelp.com, Magic City is a strip club located on Forsyth Street. Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith said that he is "disappointed" by Michael Turner's arrest on DUI charges in Gwinnett, according to a media report. ESPN reported that Smith met with the running back in Smith's office after learning of the arrest early Tuesday on I-85 in unincorporated Norcross. "First and foremost, any time a player sheds negatively on our football team and on our organization, we are very disappointed," Smith said. "This is a legal matter, and it's very well-defined how we have to proceed with it through the league, and we'll let this process run its course." Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner was traveling 97 mph in 65 mph zone early Tuesday (Sept. 18) on I-85 in unincorporated Norcross when he was stopped and later charged with DUI, Gwinnett Police said Tuesday. According to a GCPD news release, Turner, a Suwanee resident, was observed driving a black Audi "at a high rate of speed' on northbound I-85 near Indian Trail Road. The traffic stop took place on I-85 near Steve Reynolds Boulevard. A member of the DUI task force made contact, and Turner identified himself as a member of the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta Falcons starting running back Michael Turner, a Suwanee resident, was arrested early Tuesday (Sept. 18) on charges of DUI and speeding in Gwinnett, records show. According to the Gwinnett Sheriff's Office, Turner, of a Chattooga Terrace address in Suwanee, was booked into the Gwinnett Detention Center shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday. He was released on bond ($2,006 for DUI, $173 for speeding) shortly after 7 a.m. Turner rushed 17 times for 42 yards and one touchdown in the Falcons' 27-21 victory over Denver on Monday night at the Georgia Dome.
