So, Lasseter was not charged in the Gary case. Neither was Fanning. The public official and her son are not charged but the private citizen one who aceded to their request for a bribe (to get a project approved that seems to be necessary) goes to prison. Hmmmmm. Who had the duty to uphold the public trust? Seems to me like Gary was working within the corrupt system created by the officials, and …   more ›

The official ground-breaking ceremony was held Thursday. Attending were Peachtree Corners council members Jay Lowe and Lorri Christopher and Gwinnett Commissioner Lynette Howard.

The senior living center had been planned for several years on the site of the former Faith Life Church on Spalding Drive, but it was late August of this year when the developer finally broke ground. "This is going to be our premier development." The center, for seniors 55 and over, features residential cottages and apartments for independent living. Noble Village also provides specialized …

Mark Gary Pleads Guilty to Bribing Shirley Lasseter

Sentencing hearing for Peachtree Corners Noble Village developer scheduled Jan. 3 in U.S. District Court in Atlanta.

Noble Village developer Mark Gary, 39, of Duluth, pleaded guilty Monday (Oct. 1) in federal district court in Atlanta to a charge of bribing then Gwinnett County Commissioner Shirley Lasseter in 2009 to secure approval of a proposed waste transfer station in which he held a personal stake. Gary's sentencing hearing was scheduled for Jan. 3 before U.S. District Judge Charles A. Pannell Jr. “Today’s guilty plea shows that paying off a public official is a losing bet,” said U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates in a press release issued by her office. “Gwinnett County’s approval of competing real estate developments is not a game in which votes are for sale to the highest bidder. We will continue to aggressively pursue business people who …
