Blue Devils Now No. 3 in National Football Ranking

Norcross High defeated Lovejoy High 21-14 in the state finals to win its first state championship since 1957 when the school began playing varsity football.

Since last week's Class AAAAAA title win, Norcross High has earned another token of recognition. The Blue Devils have been named the country's new No. 3 team in the Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard, according to MaxPreps. Norcross was ranked No. 8 before. "The Gwinnett County squad has an impressive list of victories that includes North Gwinnett, Camden County and Colquitt County," says the news site. The Blue Devils was beat in the rankings by Louisiana's Curtis High School (14-0), the Class 2A state champion who earned the No. 1 slot, and Texas' Katy High at No. 2. 'This Year's Team is the Best Norcross Has Ever Had'

Just walk the halls of Norcross High School and you can feel the excitement - a state championship game is looming. It's the first time the Blue Devils have made it to the finals - and the anticipation of the Saturday game hangs in the air. After last week's big projection, Maxwell Ratings still favors the Blue Devils (14-0) to claim the Class AAAAAA championship title. On a local level one man says this could be the best team Norcross High has ever had. Saturday's game at the Georgia Dome are on sale for a limited time this week.

The Norcross High School football team (14-0) is headed to the Georgia Dome on Saturday to take on Lovejoy High School (13-1) for the state championship. Tickets are available for $18.00 (cash only) at the school's main office or you can purchase them through Ticketmaster or at the gate for $20.00.
