According to the Gwinnett Daily Post citing the Associated Press, players from both Norcross High and Greater Atlanta Christian were selected for their respective area teams. The Class AAAAAA team had six players from the Blue Devils, and the Spartans had four football players in Class AA. Norcross should take care of business against its old rival Duluth.
Gwinnett Football Game of the Week Duluth (1-2) at Norcross (3-0) Patch's reader-decided Gwinnett Game of the Week is an old-time football rivalry that dates back to 1921, according to data from the Georgia High School Football Historians Association. The rivalry has been one-sided in Norcross' favor the last two decades. Norcross has won eight in a row over the Wildcats, and 15 of the last 17 meetings. But that hasn't always been the case. There wasn't a more even rivalry in Gwinnett in the 70s and 80s — the teams split 20 games 9-9-2 from 1970 to '89. Norcross, ranked No. 3 in Class AAAAAA and coming off last week's big 31-21 win at North Gwinnett, looks to be the better team. The Blue Devils are playing well in all areas and could very …

Norcross ended a four-game losing streak to North Gwinnett, and took the early lead in the Region 7-AAAAAA standings with a 31-21 win Friday in Suwanee. Clinton Lynch caught two touchdown passes from Joseph Wilber for the Blue Devils (3-1, 1-0 in the region). North Gwinnett fell to 2-1, 0-1. The game was Patch's Game of the Week, as voted on by readers. Alvin Kamara scored on a 5-yard run, Kevin Mouhon returned an interception 86 yards for a TD, and Joseph Mahfood kicked a 24-yard field goal for Norcross. Many believe the winner of the this game now has the inside track on the region title, since both teams were state-ranked and considered the best two teams in 7-AAAAAA. “It’s not an indication necessarily of what will fall out the rest of…

Keith Maloof, the Blue Devil's head coach talks about the upcoming 2012 season.
If there's one thing Norcross High head football Coach Keith Maloof lives by, it's what his father always said. "Do the best you can with the ability God gave you, and you'll always be a champion," said his dad, George, who coached the St. Pius X football team for 26 years. Maloof himself has been the head coach at Norcross High for 14 years now, but has been in the field of coaching football for 28 years. Before landing in Norcross, he assisted and headed the high school football teams for Loganville, Meadowcreek, Tucker and Dacula, where he helped coach under his brother, Kevin, who retired in 2011. Maloof was the head baseball coach there, too. And the sports in his family doesn't stop there: His son Tyler pitched for the baseball team …

I could say something about how the leaves are changing or how pumpkin-spiced coffee doesn't really taste like pumpkin or how these things should make you want to get out of the house. But I won't, because you already know that and I'd hate to be condescending. (That means to talk down to people.) So just get out and have fun. Duluth Fall Festival Over 350 arts, crafts and food tents will turn downtown Duluth into a mosaic of celebration this weekend. In addition, parades, music, dancing, a 5K road race and carnival assure that your entire family will have a blast at the Duluth Fall Festival. Probably not with each other, but everyone will have fun. For more information, visit the website here. Gateway International Food & Music Festival …
