City Taxes Included in This Year's Tax Bills

Peachtree Corners city taxes are a line item on the Gwinnett Tax bill that's due by Oct. 15, 2012.

By now the majority of Peachtree Corners homeowners - and business owners have received their property tax bills from Gwinnett County. There are two new details to point out, the city's portion is included in this year's bill. A separate line item listed under the heading "State, City & Other Taxes" shows 000850 under the "Mill Rate" heading which represents .85 millage rate approved by Peachtree Corners City Council earlier this year. And secondly, unlike in previous years, the total amount is due on October 15, 2012. In the past tax payments have been broken up into two separate payments. City Council Sets Millage Rate for 2012

In a 6-1 vote, Peachtree Corners City Council passed the ordinance to establish this year's property tax.

In a Special Called Meeting that was held Tuesday (June 17) at the Hilton Atlanta hotel, Peachtree Corners City Council voted 6-1 in favor of adopting the 2012 millage rate for the new city at .85 mils. Council member Alex Wright cast the lone vote against the proposed millage rate. Wright had also voted against the $2.7 million budget which he felt was too high. Tuesday night's vote, which passed, was to amend the original proposed 1 millage rate to .85 mils. The meeting also included a Public Hearing for anyone wishing to speak out on the city's millage rate, however no one came forward. Special Called Meeting Set for Monday

Among the agenda items, the Peachtree Corners City Council will consider setting the millage rate for the new city.

The Peachtree Corners City Council has scheduled a Special Called Meeting for Monday, July 16, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hilton Atlanta hotel. The agenda items include: Under Old Business: Consider to adopt an ordinance to amend the intergovernmental agreement with Gwinnett County for Land Use Services (this item was tabled at the July 12 meeting) Consider to adopt an ordinance creating an Amended Planning Commission for the City of Peachtee Corners.
