Karson Smith, a second grade student, has been named the Peachtree Corners Rotary Club's student of the month.
On Monday, May 6, 2013 during its weekly meeting, the Peachtree Corners Rotary Club recognized recognized Karson Smith who attends Simpson Elementary School, as its student of the month. A proclamation was presented which pronounced: Simpson Elementary is proud to recognize Karson Smith from Ms. Walker’s second grade class as our Rotary Student of the Month. Karson is an excellent student and we are proud of the exceptional learner and leader he has become during his years at Simpson. As a learner, he accepts every challenge given to him by his teachers. The Peachtree Corners Rotary Club was honored to have the Lieutenant Governor speak at its Monday luncheon meeting.
Georgia's 11th Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle was the guest speaker at the Peachtree Corners Rotary Club luncheon meeting on Monday. Introducing the Lieutenant Governor was Senator Curt Thompson (Dist. 5). "Casey Cagle is committed to education in Georgia. He helped create the E-SPLOST system and has been a champion for the charter school system," said Thompson. Cagle, a Gainesville native, made history in 2006 by becoming the first Republican elected to the state's second highest office and was re-elected for a second term. "We as citizens have experienced some economic challenging times recently," said Cagle. "At the state level we've felt it too. This year we've cut $4 billion in state spending but have maintained our AAA rating. …
