What Does the YMCA Mean to the Community?

It's not just a place for swim lessons and summer camps, it's also a place to volunteer and get involved in the community.

What is the first thing you think about when you hear or see the the YMCA sign as you drive by the Peachtree Corners location. It's more than just four letters. It's likely to make you smile and maybe want to sign and dance! Then you probably think about swim lessons, summer camp, youth sports, senior programs, or maybe basketball, Toastmasters or Father’s Day? These programs have been associated with the Y for many, many decades, several of them getting their start at a YMCA. Plenty of Reasons to Smile: Summer Fun at Fowler YMCA

The Peachtree Corners local YMCA offers a myriad of activities for families.

Summer is such an exciting time at Fowler Family YMCA. So many new friendships, so much fun, and lots of memories. The Y's camps are in full swing, sports are underway, and families are having fun together in the indoor pool. Opportunities abound for older adults at the Peachtree Corners YMCA, from exercise to social activities.

You are never too old to try new things - whether it's learning a new skill, discovering a new hobby or making new friends. It's not too late to sign up for one of the Summer Camps at the Peachtree Corners Y.

At the YMCA Summer Camp is all about developing the camper and filling your child's day with fun, character-developing experiences.   Campers develop new friendships while gaining a sense of independence. With activities like swimming, sports, gymnastics, cheerleading, nature and environmental awareness, arts and crafts, math and science, (just to name a few of the Y's specialty camps) campers try things outside of their norm. Middle School Kids Stay Fit at the YMCA

The Peachtree Corners facility offers an after-school fitness program for teens that includes exercise classes and healthy nutrition guidance.

When the bell rings at the end of the school day, teens need a safe, fun and healthy place to go when their parents are still at work or away from home. Robert D. Fowler YMCA, right here in Peachtree Corners, offers quality after school programs for kids.  In the Middle School Program, in addition to helping the kids with academics, they focus on areas of healthy living.  All students in the Middle School Program participate in group fitness challenges every week.  “We try to keep our fitness fun and fresh by offering several fitness opportunities each day,” said Craig Lovingood, the program’s coordinator.  “We offer Teen Zumba and body pump twice a month, and the kids participate in weekly fitness challenges."  The counselors also talk …
