Need a jump start in the morning? RaceTrac announced it is giving customers free coffee now through Jan. 14 to introduce six new richer, more flavorful blends made of 100 percent Arabica beans. The new blends are now available in the Duluth RaceTrac and at stores throughout the company's seven markets. Stores in all markets are giving away free cups of coffee with any inside purchase. Threat of contamination causes Flying Food Group in Lawrenceville to pull items from shelves, including the location in Peachtree Corners.

Fying Food Group, Inc. announced on Saturday that it was pulling sandwiches it distributed to the RaceTrac stations in Georgia due to the possible contamination of Listeria monocytogenes. According to the Associated Press, the Chicago-based company said the deadly bacterial may be in items produced by its Lawrenceville plant. The company said there have been no reports of illness in connection with the recall and has suspended production at its Lawrenceville facility pending an investigation. Included in the recall is the company's Chicken Quarter Pounder, the Chicken Quarter Pounder with Tomatoes, the Ham Quarter Pounder, the Ham Quarter Pounder with Tomatoes and the American Sub. Peachtree Corners and Berkeley Lake residents who frequent Starbucks and RaceTrac may want to beware of a recent food recall issued by the FDA. Earlier this month, Flying Food Group, located in Lawrenceville, recalled sandwiches which were sold at Starbucks throughout Gwinnett County. Yesterday the Food and Drug Administration announced an additional recall of some 40 items including sandwiches, parfaits and salads because they potentially could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. There have been no reported illnesses related to this issue. The products were made for Starbucks, RaceTrac and Core-mark Atlanta and distributed in Georgia, Alabama and Florida.
