Amanda - You will never see this in all gwinnett schools. Simpson enjoys a benefit that most of you don't know about which is its geographic location - right smack dab in the middle of a bunch of single family, middle to upper class homes. Simpson is also has an appropirate student to teacher ratio. The mostly white student body enjoys the support of their family and is well behaved, ready and …   more ›

Congratulations to the students and teachers at simpson. Too bad this is not indicative of the rest of the schools in Peachtree corners. Simpson serves only middle and upper class single family homes and doesn't have to deal with children from disadvantaged backgrounds, non english speakers, parents who don't care, overcrowding, and budget shortfalls from being over-burdened and under-supported.   more ›

Volunteering, Meeting the Needs of Others Part of Her Life

Wendy Willis does many things to better our community. Most recently she has headed up a tutoring program at a local school in Peachtree Corners.

Most of us here in Peachtree Corners lead busy lives. With so many tasks to complete it’s hard to see beyond those commitments. How refreshing it is to find someone who not only takes care of herself but works hard to meet the needs of others. Wendy Willis is one of those people who seeks opportunities to serve others in our community. As a child she says her parents instilled in her, “the importance of using my gifts and talents to give back to the community.” Growing up in Germantown, TN when it was a fledgling community, Willis watched both of her parents become deeply involved in volunteering to help the establishment of the area. When she was in college Willis became active in the big brothers and sisters organization. She told me …

I had Mrs. Russo in elementary school. She was a wonderful teacher and person and made me incredibly glad that I was gifted! She stuck with me when I couldn't figure out FPS, or anything else. It paid off; I was part of the Pinckneyville team that won state and went to the International Competition in Michigan on 2008! Thanks Mrs. Russo!   more ›
