Approximately 20,000 Realtors® from 45 countries will be meeting this week through Mionday of next week to exchange ideas and attend classes. We are in Orlando, Florida at Orange County Convention Center. I arrived on Tuesday evening to join this group and meet with a MasterMind group, where we exchange technology and marketing ideas. Two days of extensive and challenging classes have filled my brain. A good agent is always learning and these two days have proven there is always much to learn. Our industry is focusing on bringing information to the public and how to best do that. The talk has been Mobile, Mobile and more Mobile. We are making that information available to the consumer so that anyone can stop in front of a home and get …

Every six months the Gwinnett County's Board of Health inspects area restaurants which are then graded based on an extensive criteria that includes everything from food being stored at proper temperatures to employee hygiene. Restaurants are required to display these reports in a prominent place for diners to view. This is what we found in a random search of inspections on the county's website. The Peachtree Corners Business Association meeting had professional models, council members, the city's mayor and even the association's president strolling down the fashion runway at Belk.
Who said business gatherings have to be all about - well business? The Peachtree Corners Business Association on Thursday night was - believe it or not - about fashion. Belk's at The Forum hosted the evening event that was pure fun. There was food and spirits provided by neighboring Grace 1720, live music, door prizes and a fashion runway full of celebrities. Modeling the latest in fall fashion were: Oh, and for good measure Belk's through in a few "real" models to balance out the show. Belk's store manager Ivan Yuspeh, announced each of the models and what they were wearing. The show's production details were handled by Howard Worley. More than 70 people enjoyed eating and shopping before the show. Belks offered PCBA members 20 percent …

Her love of fresh produce lead Genna Bowman to venture out and begin her own business delivering farm-picked food to Peachtree Corners.
Genna Bowman likes to know where her fruits and vegetables come from. Sifting through the choices in the local Peachtree Corners grocery stores she didn't like what she saw. Food shipped in from far away states and even other countries. Bowman, an admitted "veggie lover," thought there had to be fresh fruit and vegetables that were grown nearby that were available. She began looking for surrounding Georgia farms for organically grown produce. You could say a seed was planted as she searched for fresh produce to serve to her family. That search grew into a new business venture she calls Farmers Delivery. The business is a farmers market on wheels of sorts. Bowman reasoned that most everyone, given the choice, would prefer fresh produce, but…

The Peachtree Parkway Plaza has nearly 15 empty store fronts. What kind of businesses would you like to see move in.
In its heyday the Peachtree Parkway Plaza on the corner of Spalding Drive and S.R. 141 was brimming with shoppers and diners. Today only a handful of businesses remain. A Winn Dixie and a large drug store were the anchors along with several restaurants including Los Arcos that brought in the majority of the business. A boutique tennis shop once served the many tennis players in the city. But those businesses have closed and moved on to more thriving locations. Los Arcos was the last to leave, its owners choosing to relocate in a smaller shopping center nearby. Today the retail center is a rather forlorn reminder of better times. Its large parking lot is nearly empty except for a cluster of cars in front of the Goodwill and Dollar General. …

Grief is a part of life, says Anne Keeton. The Peachtree Corners woman offers a program for men and women on how to understand and recover from grief.
Did you know there are 40 different kinds of loss? When we hear the word "grief" most of us think it relates to the loss of a loved one. But that is just one of the causes for humans to grieve points out Anne Keeton, owner of Grief to Relief a grief recovery program. "It could be the loss of a pet, a job, a home or retirement, any kind of loss," she explains. "Anything that causes conflicting feelings," says Keeton, "even positive events such as marriage." The conflict, she says, arrises out of the knowing that, in the case of marriage, "our familiar patterns or behavior will change" leading to a feeling of grief or loss in what is familiar to us. Helping to overcome those feelings is where Keeton comes in. "Grief recovery is a skill set …
