Most Gwinnett County offices will be closed Monday, Nov. 12, to observe Veterans Day. A Magistrate Court judge will be available at the Gwinnett County Detention Center. County offices will open Tuesday, Nov. 13, with normal business hours. Trash haulers will follow their normal trash schedules Monday. The Gwinnett County Solid Waste and Recycling Call Center will be closed that day, but hauler call centers will be open. Residents can visit www.sustainablegwinnett.com to find their hauler’s contact information.

Gwinnett County will honor its military veterans during a Veterans’ Day ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Fallen Heroes Memorial in Lawrenceville. The public is invited to attend this observance to pay tribute to the men and women who have served honorably in the military, during wartime or peacetime, and to memorialize the fallen heroes who have sacrificed their lives to protect our nation. Gwinnett County Chairman Charlotte Nash, District 2 Commissioner Lynette Howard and County Administrator Glenn Stephens will lead this year’s ceremony. Gwinnett County took time Friday to honor those who fought for freedom and our protection. At the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, the county held its annual Veterans Day ceremony at the Fallen Heroes Memorial in Lawrenceville. Opened in 2003, the memorial located at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center lists the names of Gwinnett residents who lost their lives in the line of duty. No new names were added to the stone slabs this year. Two lines of veterans, active duty military members along with fire and police men and women, holding flags welcomed attendees.
