Three projects have broken ground in Peachtree Corners over the past six months, a new grocery store, a gated subdivision and a senior living center. All are in various stages of completion, here is a look at each one with projected completion dates. 1. Walmart Neighborhood Market: The 36,000 square-foot grocery store on Winters Chapel Road is expected to be open before the end of 2013 and will include a drive-thru pharmacy. Located on the former site of the old Supremo Market, Walmart expects to hire approximately 90 employees for its new store, the majority will be full time. A new contractor has been selected and has begun working at the site of the new Winters Chapel store in Peachtree Corners.
If you've driven along Winters Chapel Road recently, you've undoubtedly noticed the contruction activity on the site of the old Supremo Market. Work on the new Walmart Neighborhood Market has begun. The new 36,000 square-foot grocery store is expected to be complete before the end of 2013 said Walmart spokesman Bill Wertz. "Construction has started," said Wertz. "We are moving ahead and hope to open in the fall, but we don't have a firm opening date at this time." The new market will sell groceries and include a drive-thru pharmacy. The company expects to hire about 90 part-time and full-time employees said Wertz. Most of the staff will be full time he said. The Peachtree Corners site has been cleared, company now waiting for construction bids.
Wal-mart's plans to build a Neighborhood Market are on track said a company official, but it will likely be fall of 2013 before the new store opens. "Our new Neighborhood Market on Winters Chapel Road is currently out for bids," said Bill Wertz, Director of Community & Media Relations. "Clearing of the site began in September, and we are hoping construction can start in the next couple of months." Wertz said a definite opening date has not been set but it will likely be fall before the new facility is ready. When the new 40,000 square-foot store opens, it's expected to generate 90 new jobs.
