When it comes to planning and organizing an outdoor festival, it's never too early to begin. Just ask Linda O'Connor, who heads up the committee of volunteers for the annual Peachtree Corners Festival set for June 8-9, 2013. It takes a host of dedicated Peachtree Corners residents who are willing to lend their time and talent each year to make the event happen. "Peachtree Corners Festival Inc. was started in 2011 to organize and stage a fun event for the community," said O'Connor. "The idea was to provide something for everyone, from music to food to crafts to kids' activities to a car show." Visitors at Sunday's Peachtree Corners Festival were pleased and impressed with the announcement that their town is now officially a city.
An official proclamation -- read at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Peachtree Corners festival and attended by multiple county and state dignitaries -- makes Peachtree Corners the first new city created in Gwinnett County since 1956. The willingness of the crowd to take part in the festival in 106 degree weather, the hottest ever recorded on a July 1 in Atlanta, was a clear sign of the excitement surrounding the future of the city. Festival planners have made sure there's plenty of fun for everyone at the 2nd Annual Peachtree Corners Festival held this year on June 30 - July 1, 2012. Solid Rock Productions is back with more great inflatables and exciting activities for kids aged 3-15. Kids can enjoy the Spider Jump (bungee trampoline) and a variety of inflatables. Todd Key as "The Tree Man" will return and be around for plenty of photo opportunities. The festival committee has added well known Street Magician, Merritt Ambrose, to entertain all ages. The 2nd Annual Peachtree Corners Festival is shaping up to be a great celebration for everyone! Each day this week you'll be hearing about a different exciting feature of the 2012 Festival. Registration for the Car Show begins Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and viewing begins at 10 a.m. Judging starts at noon and awards presented at 3 p.m. This year we anticipate 50 to 100 cars participating in the "Judging Classes" of BPOC, Chevy, Ford, Foreign, Modern, Mopar, Top 10, Trucks and Best of Show.
