Dreamland BBQ Expects to Reopen This Fall

Building plans for a new restaurant have been submitted to Peachtree Corners City Hall.

If all plans go as expected Peachtree Corners diners will be enjoying a new Dreamland BBQ by mid fall. The popular Peachtree Corners restaurant, located on the corner of Peachtree Parkway and Peachtree Corners Circle, had been destroyed by fire on January 15. Today all that remains after that early evening blaze is the restaurant's red brick barbecue pit and twin smoke stacks. A company spokesperson for the Birmingham, Alabama-based chain, Ashley Davis, vowed shortly after the fire that a new Dreamland BBQ restaurant would be open by Memorial Day. Fire Breaks Out in Condo Causing Heavy Damage

Gwinnett firefighters battled a blaze today in a Peachtree Corners condominium building which caused extensive damage and leaving three residents without a home.

A residential fire in Peachtree Corners Monday afternoon caused heavy damage to a condominium on Appletree Way displacing the three residents. Gwinnett firefighters responded to a report called in by a passerby shortly before 4 p.m. Monday said Tommy Rutledge, spokesman for the fire department. "Crews found heavy smoke showing from the roof of a two-story wood frame condo building on arrival," said Rutledge. He said firefighters located the blaze in an upstairs bathroom of one unit and that the fire caused "extensive damage to the bathroom and sent smoke and heat throughout the second floor."  No one was in the condo when the fire broke out and no injuries were reported. Fire Breaks Out at Dreamland BBQ Wednesday Evening

The popular Peachtree Corners eatery was heavily damaged by fire around 5:30 p.m. A quick-thinking restaurant manager evacuated customers and employees when he saw smoke in the back of the building.

Dreamland BBQ, the popular restaurant located on the corner of Peachtree Parkway and Peachtree Corners Circle caught fire Wednesday (Jan. 15, 2013) evening around 5:30 p.m. The fire appears to have caused extensive damage. Gwinnett firefighters were called around 5:20 p.m. and had the fire under control shortly after 6 p.m. said Lt. Colin Rhoden, spokesman for the county fire department. "There were several patrons in the restaurant at the time and the manager was able to get them and the employees out of the restaurant," said Rhoden. Peachtree Corners Home Catches Fire Sunday Evening

Neighbors alert Gwinnett firefighters after seeing smoke coming from the the roof of a nearby home.

A Peachtree Corners home caught fire Sunday evening, fortunately a quick-thinking neighbor saw the smoke coming from a nearby house and called the Gwinnett Fire Deparement.  "The caller reported smoke coming from the roof of the home," said Captain Tommy Rutledge, Gwinnett Fire Department spokesman. Rutledge said the home is located on the 3500 block of Corners Way. When crews arrived shortly before 7 p.m. they "found smoke and flames showing from a second floor bathroom and fire burning in the attic," he said. According to the report, the fire caused extensive damage to the bathroom and a portion of the roof and attic but there were no injuries. Fire Breaks Out at Old Peachtree Road Business

Wednesday evening Gwinnett firefighters responded to a fire alarm at a Peachtree Corners business.

Gwinnett firefighters were called to the scene of a blaze Wednesday night at a business located in an industrial section on Old Peachtree Road between Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Buford Highway. At 6:30 p.m. firefighters responded to a fire alarm at AM Home Delivery & Trucking company located at 4615 Old Peachtree Road. Lieutenant Colin S. Rhoden, spokesperson for the fire department said neighboring businesses noticed smoke coming from the business and also called to alert the fire department. "On arrival firefighters found a large, 20,000 square-foot warehouse with smoke coming from the roof," said Rhoden in his report. Guest Causes Fire at Peachtree Corners Hotel

An early morning blaze Wednesday at Studio Plus extended stay hotel on Jimmy Carter Boulevard leads to arrest.

A small fire erupted early Wednesday morning in the kitchen of one of the apartments of the Studio Plus extended hotel located on the 7000 block of Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Peachtree Corners. Firefighters had reports of a man trapped in the apartment and when they arrived found heavy smoke coming from a window on the second level of the three-story brick building. He was later identified as Julius Duke, 30. Firefighters rescued Duke who was found unconscious on the bed, said Cpl. Eric Eberly, Gwinnett Fire Department's public information officer. Two Pets Rescued From Peachtree Corners Apartment Fire

Firefighters quickly doused kitchen fire, minor damage to residence, two dogs rescued, one may not survive.

  Gwinnett firefighters reponded to a fire at a Peachtree Corners apartment complex around 6 p.m. Thursday dousing a kitchen blaze and rescuing two pet dogs that were inside the apartment. A neighbor reported seeing smoke in one of the units in the Barrington Hills apartments on Chelsea Park Lane. When firefighters arrived "crews found smoke pushing out of one of the apartment units on the lower level of the two-story wood frame apartment building," said Public Information Officer Eric Eberly in his report. Firefighters had the blaze under control in about a half hour. The apartment fire caused moderate damage but caused no apparent damage to any of the adjoining apartment units. Arson Blamed for Overnight Business Fire in Peachtree Corners

Fire Investigators found evidence of incendiary device inside building.

At 12:23 a.m. Friday, Gwinnett firefighters responded to a call at a business located in a shopping center on Jimmy Carter Boulevard near Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Peachtree Corners. Shortly after arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the office of Envios La Familia Peruana, a courier service and merchandising store for Peruvian products located on the second floor of a shopping center at 7050 Jimmy Carter Boulevard.
