Three new developments are in various stages of completion in Peachtree Corners. Here are photos and progress reports.
Three projects have broken ground in Peachtree Corners over the past six months, a new grocery store, a gated subdivision and a senior living center. All are in various stages of completion, here is a look at each one with projected completion dates. 1. Walmart Neighborhood Market: The 36,000 square-foot grocery store on Winters Chapel Road is expected to be open before the end of 2013 and will include a drive-thru pharmacy. Located on the former site of the old Supremo Market, Walmart expects to hire approximately 90 employees for its new store, the majority will be full time. The market continues to be very active. Homes priced at or close to market price are seeing offers in the first week on the market. In some cases sellers are seeing multiple offers.
Last month we told you the the home real estate market was hot. It is now sizzling. The demand for homes has soared and the biggest challenge facing agents is lack of homes to show their buyers. With this low inventory we inch closer to a seller’s market in Peachtree Corners. There are currently 84 homes on the market in the city. Compare this with the same time last year when there were approximately 110 homes on the market. The exciting news is that 55 homes are under contract and are scheduled to close in the near future. There is a 3.9 month supply of homes available for sale. That has not changed since last month. Prices are still low and buyers are still demanding the latest features but homes are selling and the market price will reflect the lower inventory in the future. Developer says first home in the Peachtree Reserve subdivision should be up by spring, 2013.
The Bush Road development has not been without controversy since the developer broke ground last month. The 10-acre property was purchased for slightly under $1 million by developer Marty Orr of Buford. But several months later, he sold his interest and a new developer, Bret Clark came in with different set of plans. Clark reduced the number of homes from 19 to 16, the lot sizes are larger than the original plans - and the homes are also considerably larger. "Overall, it's going to be a nicer community when we get done with it," said Bret Clark, Peachtree Reserve's new developer. Clark, along with Matt Rhule, with Re/Max Alliance of Duluth, the company that will be marketing the property, have taken some heat from nearby homeowners over …
