Peachtree Ridge Routs Norcross, 41-14

Lions have many offensive stars as they make a bid for playoffs.

Updated 7:46 a.m., Oct. 15, 2011 Peachtree Ridge took a strong step toward a playoff spot Friday night by taking a 41-14 victory over region foe Norcross in Suwanee. After leading 27-7 at halftime, the Lions got a TD from QB Billy Best on a 3-yard run and a pass/run of 22 yards from Best to Joe Horn in the third quarter. Norcross tacked on a touchdown in the fourth quarter. "That's what you're trying to get accomplished," Peachtree Ridge coach Mark Fleetwood said of his team playing its best late in the season. "The early games are to build momentum. The win gives the Lions a 4-0 record in Region 7-AAAAA, with three games left. The top two teams in the region go on to the state playoffs. Blue Devils Beat Mill Creek in the End

Running back Alvin Kamara scored on three long runs as Blue Devils beat the Hawks 41-34.

Alvin Kamara scored on three long touchdown runs, the last one a 48-yarder with 4:02 left in the game that proved to be the game-winner, as Norcross stayed undefeated with a 41-34 win at Mill Creek Friday night. Kamara, who had more than 200 yards rushing, also scored on runs of 43 and 67 yards in the first half before Mill Creek came back from a deficits of 20-0 and 27-7, tying the game at 34-34 with 5:02 left. Kamara's game-winner came a play after the Norcross defense ripped the ball away from a Mill Creek ball-carrier at the Hawks 48-yard line.
