Reply1.2 billion claim Catholicism worldwide. How many do we need to reach to be "relevant" George. All U.S. Presidents since Kennedy have traveled to Rome to meet with the Pope. I suspect they believe the Church remains relevant.

ReplyI doubt Rep. Kendrick meant to imply that any that represent Gwinnett failed to reach out to our constituents. Just this week I participated in a Lawrenceville Town Hall meeting with Reps. Valerie Clark and Rep-elect Joyce Chandler on Monday. As Mr. Warner indicated above, on Tuesday I spoke with the Snellville Commerce Club with Rep. Kendrick standing by my side. Just this evening, I joined Rep-elect Joyce Chandler for a Town Hall meeting in Grayson.
On Tuesday evening, Gwinnett Rep. Buzz Brockway conducted a unique online Town Hall meeting featuring video, audio, and "live chat" questions and answers.
Rep. Kendrick is a welcome addition to our 18 member Gwinnett delegation. I was recently honored to be selected Chair of the Gwinnett House delegation. Should any citizens desire additional information on their representative or community meetings, please feel free to contact me and I'll connect you with your Rep. and be sure you are well informed of upcoming meetings and issues pending before the Georgia House.
Thanks,
Brett

David, though we disagree, I do appreciate you and your opinion. Private property owners would maintain their right to permit or restrict firearms on their own property.

ReplyI've warned since 2008, at the inception of the storm water scheme in Snellville, that governments use of enterprise funds all too often simply provides the elected official a sound bite - "I didn't raise taxes"; all the while creating new "revenue" and bureaucracy that continues to grow as all government is prone to do. Not only is your home at risk because the City bills this non-tax fee on your property tax bill, but members of Council are now suggesting expanding its' use.

ReplyIt is my intent that no city or county currently using property tax bills as a vehicle for collecting non-tax fees be grandfathered. Approximately 40 counties currently use property tax bills for this purpose - collecting a dozen or more different non-tax fees. The Association of County Commissioners suggests the number of counties and the number of fees will only increase in the future. I have reviewed individual property tax bills where as much as 40% of the total due is NOT property taxes.

ReplyMr. Witts is correct with regard to sanitation fees on property tax bills; however, the City of Snellville levies a storm water fee (non-tax fee) on ad valorem property tax bills. HB 291 would prohibit this practice as well for the same reasons.
The attached link to an Adobe PDF file includes a three page memo on HB 291, legislation that would prohibit billing non-tax fees on property tax bills, that provides an update on the bill (1 pg), a listing of several issues created by the billing practice (1 pg), and the bill itself (1 pg). Should you wish to contact me on this or any other state matter please email Brett@VoteHarrell.com or my cell is 404-966-5804.

Yes, I would be comfortable with my child attending college where legally licensed 21 year old adult students are permitted to voluntarily choose to carry a firearm and I intend to vote in favor of supporting that same right provided any other legally licensed 21 year old adult in numerous other areas of our society where my child is also present.
