Peachtree Corners Man Surrenders After 6-Hour Standoff

Sunday morning Gwinnett Police responded to a call from a woman at the Autumn Trace condominiums on Peachtree Corners Circle, who said her husband was threatening her with a gun.

The couple had apparently gotten into a domestic dispute said Cpl. T.R. Tobler, Gwinnett Police spokesman.

Gwinnett Police arrived around 11:30 a.m. but the suspect, now identified as Eugene Clemons, had barricaded himself in his home.

After negotiations broke down, a SWAT team arrived and use high-impact devices to get him to come out. Sometime around 5:30 p.m. the stand off ended.

"Mr. Clemons walked out of his residence and surrendered to authorities," said Tobler.  "There were no injuries incurred to Mr. Clemons or police."

Clemons, has been charged with simple battery and pointing a pistol at another. Additional misdemeanor charges may be pending said Tobler.
