Grouchy's Deli Gets Passing Grade on Reinspection, Other Scores From 75-C to 97-A

Five Peachtree Corners restaurant inspection reports, among infractions; kitchen staff handling food with bare hands, others not washing hands with soap and water. Find out if your favorite eatery is on the list.

Following is a list of five Peachtree Corners restaurants which have been inspected recently by the Gwinnett County's Board of Health.

The Board inspects area restaurants every six months which are then graded based on an extensive criteria that includes everything from food being stored at proper temperatures to employee hygiene.

Restaurants are required to display these reports in a prominent place for diners to view. This is what we found in a random search of inspections on the county's website.

Name: Grouchy's NY Deli & Bagels (re-inspected after receiving 64-U*)
Location: 5275 Peachtree Parkway
Inspection Date: Aug. 23, 2013
Grade: 90-A
Comments: Raw Philly meat, raw hamburger patties above hash browns, batter mix in small prep cooler. Raw burger patties above precooked (fully cooked) sausage patties; unwashed produce stored above washed or washed/cut produce in walk in cooler. Raw meats, raw seafood, raw unpasteurized eggs must be stored according to cook temperature. Washed produce must be stored above, separately from unwashed produce.

Corner Bakery Cafe
Location: 6050 Peachtree Parkway
Inspection Date: Sept. 26, 2013
Grade: 75-C
Comments: Single-use gloves used for multiple tasks that present risk for cross-contamination. Observed employee handle dirty dishes and then handle clean dishes at dish wash station. Employee was corrected and advised to remove gloves and wash hands. Must ensure single use gloves are discarded when becoming contaminated to prevent cross contamination.

Location: 6135 Peachtree Parkway
Inspection Date:  Sept. 30, 2013
Grade: 88-B
Comments: Employees not washing hands with clean, warm running water and/or soap. Observed two employees return from outside and rinse hands off with water. Employees were corrected and advised to wash hands in hand sink with warm water and soap. Must ensure all employees properly wash hands with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds.

Inspection Date: Sept. 17, 2013
Grade: 97-A
Comments: At beginning of inspection, observed employee using 4-compartment dish sink to prepare vegetables. Employee was corrected and advised to wash and prepare vegetables in vegetable preparation sink. Must ensure all fruits and vegetables are washed in the designated vegetable preparation sink.

Inspection Date: Aug. 1, 2013
Grade: 85-B
Comments: Multiple kitchen employees observed handling ready-to-eat foods with bare hands: (1.) Employee scooped seeds with bare hands and added them to paneer tikka masala cooking on the stove. (2.) Employee pulled Indian flat, seed crisp with bare hands. Discard these items. Bare hands must contact ready-to-eat foods.
