Animal Shelter Accepts Donations

The Gwinnett animal shelter has received almost $5,000 in donations this year, thanks to the generosity of individuals who have used an online donation tool.

The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners formally accepted the contributions on Tuesday.

Donations help provide adoption and rescue events, testing and vaccinations for incoming animals, and supplies and equipment for spaying and neutering programs. A link for making online donations is available at www.gwinnettcounty.com. Go to Animal Shelter under the Departments tab.

The shelter is also collecting canned goods for local food banks through Dec. 31 by offering a $10 voucher for shelter fees for a five-item donation of such goods as peanut butter, dry beans, pasta, rice, cereal, toilet paper, diapers, soap, shampoo, deodorant and detergent.

Five major adoption/rescue events this year have helped find homes for many animals in addition to raising awareness of the shelter. “Without help and donations from the amazing people of Gwinnett County, we wouldn’t have been able to hold these events at the shelter. I thank each and every one of them and look forward to seeing what we’ll be able to do next year,” said Shelter Manager Chip Moore.
