Dreams of White Christmas Come True

A record breaker; it's been 128 years since metro area's last snowfall on Dec. 25th.

It's been well over a century since Peachtree Corners and Berkeley Lake saw any signs of a snowflake on Christmas Day -- but yesterday's late afternoon rain turned into soft snowflakes that began to fall covering homes, yards, playgrounds and fields with about an inch of the white stuff according to the National Weather Bureau.

It was enough for Berkeley Lake residents Hank Liebenberg and his 4-year-old son, Philip, who spent the morning sliding down the hill along side the Lake Berkeley dam.

"We thought we'd come out and enjoy a little bit of snow," said Liebenberg who lives nearby on Lakeshore Drive. Snow at Christmas is indeed a rarity for Liebenberg who hails from South Africa. "I talked to my family back home yesterday and they said it was 82 degrees there."
