"Friday the 13th is typically a day spent avoiding black cats and ladders, but for at least one restaurant chain and its customers, Friday the 13th will show spots of good luck," according to a statement from the restaurant chain.

Don't have a cow costume, but have another garment with at least a few spots? Chick-fil-A is promising a free entree of choice for those wearers, too.

Chick-fil-A's Cow Appreciation Day has grown since it debuted eight years ago. Last year, nearly 600,000 people participated in the event, with costumes ranging from simple cow-spotted T-shirts to complete cow suits with furry ears, cow bells and homemade sandwich boards, according to a press release.

The restaurant also has a photo contest where customers can submit a photo in one of three categories: Best Calf/Calves, Best Cow and Best Herd. Prizes include Chick-fil-A beach towels, gift cards and catered parties.

Customers can upload photos for the contest from July 13 through July 31 via its Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ChickfilA.
