Gas Prices Creeping Up Again

It's not an illusion - we're paying more for gas than just a month ago.

As if you didn't already know, gas prices are on the rise again. According to an NPR report we're paying 30 cents more per gallon then this time last month.

What's the reason? Two oil-refinery blazes in two U.S. cities are to blame. The fires have interrupted production - and the drought which is to blame for the higher cost to produce corn-based ethanol.

  • Current average price for a gallon of regular gas: $3.693
  • Cost of a gallon of regular gas a month ago: $3.393
  • And a year ago, we were paying on average $3.601 for a gallon of regular gas.

Historically gas prices begin to fall after Labor Day - so that means in about three weeks hopefully, we'll see the cost of a gallon of gas slowly begin to drop.
