Festival Goers Flock to 3rd Annual Peachtree Corners Festival

Good weather combined with an earlier date on the calendar brought in record numbers to the annual event.

The Peachtree Corners Festival, like the city in which it is held, is still in its infancy, but a record turnout has this event well on its way to becoming a hit for festival goers.

An estimated 20,000 people attended the weekend event held June 8-9. The event, set on a shaded street, offered a pleasant setting for strolling, visiting with neighbors and friends, listening to live music - and of course shopping.

Except for a late afternoon burst of rain on Sunday, Mother Nature provided ideal festival weather.

"Our committee was extremely pleased with this year's attendance and we're so glad everyone had a great time," said Linda O'Connor, who chairs the festival committee.

"The rain on Sunday dampened everyone's clothes but not their spirits. We learn every year how to make our festival better and we know 2014 will be awesome."

Shoppers enjoyed browsing through a wide selection of over 60 arts and craft booths that included jewelry, art, custom-made birdhouses, outdoor decorative items and plenty more.

Eighteen food booths offered everything from Italian, barbecue and Mexican to cupcakes and frozen treats.

A total of 14 different children's activities including face-painting, rock climbing, slides, obstacle course and a kids-sized train that carried children and adults on a ride through the festival kept the little ones entertained.

The weekend was full of live music and entertainment with a line up that included the Pinckneyville Middle School chorus, up-and-coming country singer Jordan Rager from Loganville, the New South Jazz and comedic juggler Todd Key.
