Kittens Looking for Loving Homes

Just 10 weeks old, they have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated.

As beautiful as spring is, this season is invariably a sad time for cat rescue and adoption volunteers.

According to Deborah Smith, Cat Program Coordinator for Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, "There are two "Kitten Seasons" every year; and they occur in the spring and in the fall. During those times, we receive calls every day from people who have found abandoned and stray pregnant cats and nursing mothers.

"Sadly, there are simply not enough homes for all of them." Smith believes that the primary cause of this cat over-population is that many people do not spay or neuter their cats.

Her organization tries to help identify low cost spay/neuter services for cat owners who may lack the financial means to ensure that their cats are not able to reproduce.

The Angels organization recently agreed to take into their program four adorable kittens who are examples of this phenomenon. The mother cat was abandoned and taken in by a Good Samaritan who has since decided to adopt her.

After obtaining a commitment from the family that they would spay the mother cat, Angels' cat volunteers accepted these kittens and they now can be found at the group's cat adoption center at the Johns Creek PETCO (10980 State Bridge Rd.). (They do often go home to a foster home at night).

Onyx, Oakley, Opal, and Oliver are incredibly cute kittens. These 10-week-old kittens love to run, jump, and play with their siblings all day long. They can be wild and crazy one minute, and then sweet and loving the next. They all adore attention, and after wearing themselves out like nothing better than snuggling in the lap of the nearest human. They like to sneak under the covers and sleep with their foster mom at night...and then pester her in the morning until she feeds them.

Smith says these kittens are the "total package" and their lucky adopters will have lots of fun with them...and also have the benefit of loving lifelong companions.

She notes that these kittens are very attached to each other, and they must be adopted in pairs.  The kittens have been spayed/neutered by Peach Pets Animal Hospital, tested for feline leukemia and feline AIDS, vaccinated, treated for internal and external parasites, and microchipped.

Angels pays for the microchip registration as part of the adoption fee, which is typically $135 for each cat, or $235 when two or adopted.

People interested in adopting a pair of these precious kittens should e-mail Smith at deb@angelsrescue.org or call her at 404-414-1282 to request an adoption application and/or to arrange a "meet and greet" with the kittens.
