New Movie With Robin Williams to be Filmed in Downtown Norcross

     A production company is expected to start filming Wednesday (April 24) for the opening scene of a Christmas movie in Historic Downtown Norcross.

Crews could arrive as early as 4:30 a.m. to begin shooting the flick, which is about parents dealing with the stresses of kids and the holidays, according to the city of Norcross website.

Filming is expected to last only Wednesday through 7 p.m., but depending on weather and other conditions, the shoot in Norcross could take longer and may continue on Thursday, said production team's location manager Kai Thorup.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms around and after 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Access Atlanta reports that the film, titled "A Friggin' Christmas Miracle," will star Robin Williams, Joel McHale, Lauren Graham, Oliver Platt, Ryan Lee and Candice Bergen.

Most of the crews will be primarily crowded around the Norcross Station Cafe on the corner of South Peachtree Street and Jones Street. The scene will capture a long line of parents and kids stretching along the sidewalk in front of the restaurant while waiting to visit Santa inside.

Stores and restaurants throughout downtown will remain open during regular business hours, and the streets also will remain open to through traffic except during the actual shooting, which is expected to take 10 to 15 minutes of every hour.

Off-duty Norcross Police officers will be on hand to control any traffic and parking issues. Some parking spaces in downtown will be blocked off for the movie.
