Postage May Increase In 2014

Attention all Peachtree Corners residents who still use the post office to mail a letter,  the cost of a first class stamp may go up to 49 cents by early next year. And the price to mail a package and postcards would go up too.

The U.S. Post Office says the proposed increase is due to drop in volume and the need to fund the future retirement benefits of postal workers mandated by Congress.

That seems like a lot to any one who has been around awhile. In the '70s the cost to mail a first class letter was just 8 cents
