There is plenty of things going on in the coming weeks.

1. Just 22 days until it's time to cast your vote. residents will be electing a mayor, two council members and also deciding on whether to approve Sunday alcohol sales. Peachtree Corners residents will be voting on whether their community should become a city. This is a big decision for the 38,000 residents of this unincorporated Gwinnett community.

And every Gwinnett voter will be deciding whether  to approve to extend the 1-cent sales tax to benefit the Gwinnett County Public Schools. The additional tax revenue will fund much needed repairs and maintenance to the schools and allow important technology upgrades for classrooms along with a number of other enhancements. 2. Gwinnett County is sponsoring a "Flood information Open House" on Oct. 26. The county's Department of Water Resources, along with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division and FEMA has updated maps of flood-prone areas in unincorporated Gwinnett County. New maps and a report on flooding potential and insurance risks will be presented at the Open House from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville. Officials from Water Resources, the state’s Department of Natural Resources, and FEMA will be available to answer questions. A map of the study area is available for viewing.
