Peachtree Corners Voters Approve Redevelopment Powers Referendum

And county-wide voters approved to extend SPLOST for another three years. The revenue is expected to be used primarily for transportation projects.

Peachtree Corners voters cast their ballots in favor of the 1-cent sales tax SPLOST and the city's referendum for redevelopment powers.

Voters in Gwinnett's newest city narrowly approved SPLOST which is estimated to bring in some $498 million to the county and nearly $90 million to Peachtree Corners.

Mayor Mike Mason said getting SPLOST and the referendum passed was good news for the county and the city.

"I would like to thank the citizens of Peachtree Corners for the confidence they showed in us by approving both the SPLOST and Redevelopment Powers," said Mason. "This is an exciting result and bodes well for the future of our City."

The county and city are expected to use the 1-cent sales tax revenue for transportation projects, such as road work, sidewalks, biking trails and intersections improvements.

The redevelopment powers will be used by the city to create Tax Allocation Districts (TADs) for redeveloping areas such as the Holcomb Bridge corridor.
