Trial To Begin in Norcross HS Teen's Death

A home invasion lead to the shooting death of Nick Jackson, 15. Six men were arrested along with the boy's father who was dealing drugs which ultimately lead to his son's death.

Peachtree Corners residents, many who have children attending Norcross High School, were shocked to hear the news last February that 15-year-old Nick Jackson, Jr. who attended the same school as their own sons and daughters was shot and killed in his family's Norcross home.

The Jackson family, whose home is just a couple of miles from Peachtree Corners city limits, was gunned down in the early evening of Feb. 2, 2012 by robbers who had kicked in the basement door of his family's home.

Later, police would tie the shooting death to the boy's father, Nick Jackson, Sr., who police discovered was involved in a Mexican distributing network. Detectives would later discover that the four men who stormed the family's home on Autry Street near downtown Norcross were looking for money and drugs that they believed were stashed there.

They found little to steal, before shooting Nick-Nick, who was described as an excellent student and a member of the Blue Devils football team, in the heart. Nick's sister Nikia, who was upstairs, hid and called 911.

The information she provided to police lead to the arrests of six men. According to a Gwinnett Daily News report, one of the men involved in the crime, Jason Dozier, 38, of Lithonia, goes on trial Monday, Oct. 7.

On May 24, 2013, Nick Jackson, Sr., was sentenced to at least eight years in prison for distributing cocaine.
