Peachtree Corners Rapist Arrested

Gwinnett Police were able to use DNA evidence recovered from the crime scene to make the arrest.

On Friday, May 11, Gwinnett Police arrested a convicted felon for the rape of a Peachtree Corners woman that occurred on March 18, 2012 in the .

Police arrested Lorenzo Bradley, 40, who was living in a neighboring building in the same complex, said Cpl. Jake Smith, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Shortly after the crime, Gwinnett Police circulated a sketch of Lorenzo which lead to questioning by detectives.

"Police had interviewed Bradley a few days after the attack, due to a 'suspicious person' call from another resident of the complex," said Smith. However, there was not enough evidence at the time to charge Bradley.

During the investigation the Crime Scene Unit and the Special Victims Unit were called to the scene to collect evidence which was later used to connect Bradley with the rape.

According to police, on March 18, the victim said that she was awakened by a masked man standing over her with a gun. Bradley tied the victim up and raped her then later collected her clothing and bedding and set them on fire in her bathtub after disabling the smoke detector. He also tried to clean the woman of any DNA evidence.

Bradley has been charged with rape, burglary, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, posseion of a firearm during a crim, aggravated sodomy, battery, criminal trespass and 1st degree arson.

Bradley remains in custody at the Gwinett County Detention Center without bond.
