Editor's note: The City of Peachtree Corners has issued the following statement.

A press release issued by the City of Peachtree Corners and published November 22, 2013 in Peachtree Corners Patch incorrectly attributed the increase on Georgia Power bills for Peachtree Corners’ residents to Georgia Power Company and the Georgia Public Service Commission.

This was incorrect. In fact, the increase of approximately $2.36 per month for a residential customer using 1,000 kwh is due to the assessment of a franchise fees on behalf of the City of Peachtree Corners.
