Ga. Power Increases Franchise Fees for Peachtree Corners Customers

The increase for a resident with an average monthly usage of 1,000 kwh is expected to be an additional $2.36 per month.

Georgia Power plans to increase the Municipal Franchise Fee it charges customers living in the City of Peachtree Corners.

Georgia Power and the City of Peachtree Corners entered into a Municipal Franchise Agreement Oct. 5, 2012. In the next couple of weeks, the company will begin sending letters to customers explaining the increase.

Georgia Power charges customers living inside the city limits 0.029109 per kilowatt hour while those living in unincorporated areas are charged 0.010801/kwh.

Company officials estimate the impact to a customer with an average monthly usage of 1,000 kwh is an additional $2.36 per month. Customers also will be billed retroactively to the date of the franchise agreement.The back billed amount for the same customer will be approximately $31.00.
