Qualifying Underway for Peachtree Corners City Council

Three City Council seats are up for re-election. The qualifying period ends on Wednesday, Aug. 28.

Peachtree Corners City Council members Jay Lowe (Post 2) Jeanne Aulbach (Post 4 ) and Weare Gratwick (Post 6) qualified for re-election Monday.

All three incumbents paid the $240 qualifying fee in the office of City Clerk Kym Chereck. The fee represents 3 percent of the total gross council member's salary.

Anyone wishing to run in the Nov. 5 City Council election has until Wednesday to qualify in the City Clerk's office in City Hall, 147 Technology Parkway. Office hours are 9 a.m. until noon and 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. daily.

Gratwick said, "I'm excited about having the opportunity to run again and hopefully earn the constituents confidence. I'm also excited about what we've done and even more excited about the direction we're heading."

Aulbach acknowledged the city had accomplished a lot this year, but added, "We have a lot more to accomplish going forward. I'd like to see new initiatives like working to become a green city.We also have to work to ensure that our zoning comes into alignment with what the comprehensive plan has outlined."

Lowe said, "My family and I have lived here since 1998 and we have a vested interest in this community long term, with four daughters between the ages of 2 and 11. My vision going forward in the next term will be beautification and redevelopment."

No other candidates qualified on Monday.
