Santorum Announces He is Suspending Campaign

GOP presidential hopeful, Rick Santorum, said Tuesday race is over for him.

 

After suffering defeats in three states last week, Rick Santorum announced Tuesday that he is supending his presidential campaign in the 2012 GOP presidential contest, according to the Washington Post.

"We made a decision over the weekend that, while this presidential reace for us is over - for me - and we will suspend our campaign effective today, we are not done fighting," said Santorum.

The former Pennsylvania senator has not endorsed any of the three remaining candidates, but according to the report, the Mitt Romney campaign has asked for a meeting to discuss an endorsement which Santorum is said to be "open" to.

Santorum won contests in 11 states, but lost last week in Wisconsin, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
