The Tax Man Cometh

For Peachtree Corners and Berkeley Lake residents who travel SR 141 on a regular basis, you've surely seen the familiar figure representing Liberty Tax waiving to traffic, a constant reminder that it's time to prepare and file your tax returns.

We caught Liberty Tax employee Terrell donned in the company's Statue of Liberty costume out on the corner of Peachtree Parkway and Spalding Drive the other day. His persistent presence over the past few months has been a reminder to us all the unavoidable date is near.

For all of you procrastinators you're in luck this year, you've got three more days to delay filing. The deadline for 2010 taxes this year is Monday, April 18. If you plan on filing an extension, the deadline is the same date.

The usual April 15 deadline was extended due to Emancipation Day, a holiday observed by the District of Columbia.The State of Georgia has also extended its filing deadline to April 18 to coincide with the federal due date.

If you want to get your income tax return postmarked by the filing deadline, you need to get it to the Peachtree Corners Post Office during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 18. 

The Norcross Post Office on Mitchell Road will be open from 8:30 - 5 p.m. to accept your returns.

Taxpayers needing a little extra time may mail their returns at other nearby locations. The Lawrenceville North office, located at 1557 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville, will remain open until 7 p.m., and the Boggs Road Postal Store, located at 1605 Boggs Road in Duluth, will stay open until midnight.
