Did You Know 39% of Homebuyers Use Apps to House Hunt?

"There's an app for that," may be the hottest thing going in the real estate industry.

By Nancy Minor

This week we have the pleasure of attending the National Association of Realtors Convention (NAR). Before the NAR event, we are meeting with 40 of the top agents in the country to exchange marketing and technology ideas.

We have been meeting with this group for over 15 years, sharing the changes in technology each member has learned about or is currently using in their business. It has been instrumental in keeping our business on the leading edge in Technology. I hope to be able to share some of the newest ideas in Real Estate that will benefit our buyers and sellers.

“There’s an app for that,” may be the hottest thing going in the real estate industry. Apps are old school but individual Realtor apps are creating a buzz throughout the industry.

Thirty nine percent of the people looking for homes use mobile devices to search for homes. Keller Williams Realty provides apps for all their agents. First Multiple Listing Service (FMLS) has created an app that is a great way to search for homes as well.

Realtor.com, Trulia and Zillow all have apps for home searches as well. Interesting to use, but for local searches your agent’s individual app may be your best choice.

Be careful using an app like Zillow to be the determining factor for the value of a home. These “estimates of value” can be off by thousands of dollars.

Video remains a front runner in technology. Video as a means of communication and as a marketing tool, leads the pack in changes to look for in the near future. Email may soon be video emails to and from your Realtor.

We were presented with tools to make our work days easier and to provide convenience to our buyers and sellers. Today I will attend the NAR expo where all the new products, software and tools for the industry will be on display. Vendors will show us how these tools may benefit, buyers, sellers and agents.

The National Association of Realtors will be presenting some incredible meetings featuring top speakers. Have a great day and I will enjoy another great day in San Francisco.
