Leadership In Peachtree Corners

What Will It Take To Be A Leader In Peachtree Corners?

Every good citizen makes his country's honor his own, and cherishes it not only as precious but as sacred.  He is willing to risk his life in its defense and its conscious that he gains protection while he gives it. -Andrew Jackson

As the pages for the future of City of Peachtree Corners begin to be written, it is time for its citizens to choose its leadership.  If we plan on Peachtree Corners being the crown jewel of Gwinnett County, then we must have the leadership which truly helps oversee its development.  The main question is how will we define ourselves?  It is my belief that PeachtreeCorners prides itself on "getting the work done".  By this I mean that we are not afraid to put in the effort.  We are a community that will put on the working gloves, dig in the dirt and plant the seeds for the generations to come.  We meet challenges head on, never shy away during difficult times, and set goals that we strive to accomplish.

PeachtreeCorners must be able to attract new homeowners, new business owners, and young families.  There must be a sense that this "work, live, play" city has a local government that listens to them and is working in their best interest.  We must also cater to the aging population which helped make Peachtree Corners what it is today.  Any citizen that lives here in Peachtree Corners should be comfortable in the knowledge that their needs are being represented by all of their officials that sit on the council.

Most importantly, a leader must remember that 3,272 voters chose to vote "No" on November 6th.  That's a lot of people who did not trust that a city would work for them.  Any candidate must acknowledge this and realize that not only will they have to contend with everyday city matters once they enter office, they will also have to gain the trust of those that they represent.  We have seen politicians come and go that make promises during their campaign, only to see those same promises never fulfilled and the citizens left to fend for themselves.  As a candidate and elected official, one must work for ALL of the citizens, not just the ones that approved of the city.  What will we be if our council forgets the will of the people?

As the above quote by President Andrew Jackson indicates, each member of the city council must make the city's honor their own.  It is necessary for them to lead by example.  They must work on behalf of all races, ages, political preferences, economic statuses, and geographic locations.  As your City Council Representative, the leadership that I exhibit will be one that not only stands up for you, it will also be leadership that stands with you.
