Duluth High School Named AP Honor School

Wildcats recognized by State Superintendent of Schools.

 

 

Duluth High School was named a “2012 AP (Advanced Placement) Honor School” by State Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Barge.

DHS was recognized for being an:

  • AP STEM School -- students test in at least 2 AP math courses and at least 2 AP science courses.
  • AP STEM Achievement School -- must meet the requirements of the AP STEM School and at least 40% of the students testing in math and science courses receiving a score of 3 or better.
  • AP MERIT School -- at least 20% of students take an AP exam and at least 50% of students testing receiving a score of 3 or better.

Principal Jason Lane reported that 929 AP tests were taken at Duluth High School in 2010-11. Also, 76.2% of those students taking a test scored with a 3 or higher. (A score of 3, 4 or 5 can help a student earn college credit.) Duluth High School’s pass rate of 76.2% is the third  highest in the county behind only GSMST and Brookwood.

Registration for Gwinnett Online Campus (GOC), Gwinnett’s full-time online
learning option, is holding registration for the 2012-13 school year
through Feb. 29. Students can get more information through the counselor’s
office at the local middle or high school and on the GOC website. This
charter school opened its doors as a fulltime school in August of 2011. It
will expand to include the middle school level starting this coming fall.

The Duluth High Chorus will perform a spring concert in the school auditorium on March 1 at 7 p.m. The concert is open to the public. 

Duluth High students will perform the show “Footloose” on March 15, 16, and
17 at 7 p.m. and March 18 at 2 p.m. in the Theatre. Tickets may be purchased for $10 for adults and $8 for a student or children.
