Blue Devils Swimmer Signs with UGA

Norcross High School swimmer, Powell Brooks, has signed a letter of intent to swim for the Bulldogs.

Powell Brooks, a Norcross High School senior, was one of five swimmers to sign national letters of intent to swim with the Bulldogs according to an announcement Thursday by UGA Coach Jack Bauerle.

Brooks is listed among the top 20 prospects nationally in the 200 butterfly and the 200 and 500 freestyle, according to the report.

An All-American in the 500 freestyle, Brooks holds five school records and twice has been chosen to the Gwinnett Daily Post's Super Six. He has been picked as a Scholastic All-American three times according to a report posted on CollegeSwimming.com.

"... We're excited about what Powell can do in the butterfly and middle distance freestyle events, and we feel like his best swimming is ahead of him. We know from the way he handles school and swimming and balances everything that he's going to be not only a great athlete but a great leader. We're looking forward to having him as part of the team," said Brauerie in the announcement.

Megan Kingsley of South Carolina, Meaghan Raab of Pennsylvania, Stephanie Peters of Acworth and Courtney Weaver of Davison, Mich., have also signed letters of intent to swim with the Lady Bulldogs.
