Dance Away the Pounds for a Good Cause

Join in on the ZUMBA Fitness Rock-and-Roll-a-Thon YMCA fundraiser Feb. 25.

The third annual ZUMBA® Fitness Rock-and-Roll-a-Thon is ready to “roll” at the yearly fundraiser for the YMCA’s “Partner with Youth” campaign at the Robert D. Fowler YMCA in Peachtree Corners.

The event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Get three solid hours of the ZUMBA® rush (or as much as you prefer) including LIVE music segments, goodies, ZUMBAWEAR® giveaways and ten unique instructors!  A Silent Auction and Spin-a-Thon will be held the same day.

ZUMBA® is one of the hottest group fitness classes of 2012 using Latin and world beats to burn off the calories as you burn up the floor. But if it's so fun and such a great workout, why don't more people try it? "I can't dance!" is the most common barrier to class entry. But you don't have to be a dance pro or even to have danced before at all to enjoy this fun class.

Take the ZUMBA® challenge; there are no rules in ZUMBA® - just have FUN!

Event cost is $20 per participant and is open to the public, so bring your friends. Pre-registrants will receive a ZUMBA® goody bag including a ZUMBA® bracelet. Participants may register at the YMCA front desk or call 770-246-9622 (ask for MJ or Roz to pay with credit card) or pay with cash or check the day of the party. (Pre-paid participants are guaranteed a spot.)

The event benefits the Y's Partner with Youth campaign. In 2011, the Fowler YMCA provided over $180,000 in support for under-privileged children and families in our community. Donations help children attend summer camp, enable families to join the Y that otherwise could not afford membership, provide low-cost child care for parents in need, facilitate fixed-income seniors in attending strength training and aerobics, and empower special-needs children and adults with adapted aquatics.
