Count yourself one of the fortunate ones if you don't have to venture out today. Dropping temperatures and rising winter winds create a dangerous mix.

The main impact from the frigid weather will be from "slick roadways due to snow accumulations and black ice," according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service also warns that "dangerously cold wind chills mean frost bite and hypothermia are possible."

A winter weather advisory remains in effect until noon today. And the National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory from noon Monday until until 1 p.m. Tuesday due to the high winds.

Here's a look at the NWS forecast through Wednesday:
  • Monday: Scattered snow showers before 10am, then a chance for flurries before ending. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 29. Wind chill values as low as -2. Northwest wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 10%.
  • Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 7. Wind chill values as low as -10. Northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
